MW4 Ranked: everything confirmed so far (and what isn’t)
Updated 7/6/2026
Let's get the big one out of the way: Modern Warfare 4 drops Friday, October 23, 2026 — PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC (Battle.net, Steam, Xbox app) and, for the first time in CoD history, Nintendo Switch 2. No PS4, no Xbox One. If your duo is still on last-gen, now's the time to have that conversation.
Infinity Ward is building this one — Korea setting, full-scale invasion campaign, Price is back — and it ships with three modes: Campaign, Multiplayer and DMZ.
What's actually confirmed for multiplayer
The day-one package is bigger than we expected, honestly:
- 12 brand-new core 6v6 maps at launch — no remaster filler in the core pool
- Dedicated Gunfight maps (yes, it's back)
- Big War maps built for combined vehicle and infantry fights
- Kill Block — a shifting battleground with 500+ layout configurations
Under the hood: hip-fire bloom is gone (finally), movement got rebuilt around mantle/hang/climb/jump — and omnimovement is not coming back, which we count as a win — Create-a-Class was redone from scratch, and Theater Mode returns.
And now the honest part about Ranked
Activision has said nothing about MW4 Ranked. Nothing. No SR system, no rank tiers, no placement structure, no rewards. If you see a site quoting the MW4 rank ladder today, they made it up — and if they'll make that up, ask yourself what else on their page is invented.
What we expect, based on grinding every CoD ranked mode of the last decade: a placement phase, an SR ladder, seasonal resets, and a mid-rank grind that eats evenings. But that's experience talking, not a source. The day Activision publishes the real system, this guide gets updated — same day.
Can you actually prepare before launch?
Two things are worth doing now:
- Pre-order the game digitally. That gets you Open Beta early access plus campaign early access from October 16, 2026. The beta is also where the first real Ranked signals usually leak out.
- Reserve your boost. MW4 ranked boosting and placement matches are open for pre-order on UPBLAZED. A verified pro gets assigned before launch and starts the moment servers are up. And because Ranked details aren't final, we scope pre-orders by outcome — when Activision reveals the actual system, we confirm the exact plan with you in your order chat before anyone touches a match.
Is it safe to pre-order a boost for an unreleased mode? Fair question. Your payment sits protected until you confirm delivery, and nothing starts before you've agreed the scope. Worst case, the mode ships weird and you get your money back. That's the whole point of the payment hold.
