How to Get a Nuke in Warzone (Champion's Quest)

By Luke Setzer · Updated 9/29/2026

In short

To get a nuke in Warzone you need the Champion's Quest contract, which unlocks by winning five Core Battle Royale matches in a row or 30 matches in a single season. Lose a game and the streak restarts, and a new season resets it too. With the contract active you retrieve an isotope from a crash site, shoot down a helicopter for a care package with a hard drive, open the hidden bunker, deploy the missile launcher, load the isotope, arm the nuke and defend it for 30 seconds. Detonating it wins the match and unlocks ten rewards.

The Warzone nuke is the one thing in Call of Duty that almost nobody has. It is not a killstreak and you cannot get there in a single match: it is the Champion's Quest, and the hard part happens in the matches before the one you detonate in.

Here is the whole run, from the streak to the 30 seconds that decide it.

The short version

  • Unlock the contract: win five Core Battle Royale matches in a row, or 30 matches in a single season.
  • Run the quest: isotope, hard drive, bunker, launcher, arm the nuke.
  • Hold for 30 seconds: the whole lobby knows where you are by then.
  • The rewards: ten unlocks, plus a separate one for defusing somebody else's nuke.

How you unlock the Champion's Quest

The contract is not on the map by default. You earn the right to it one of two ways:

  • Five Core Battle Royale wins in a row. Lose one and you start over at zero.
  • 30 wins in a single season. The slower route, but a lost game does not undo it.

A new season resets the streak as well, so a run sitting at four wins when a season flips is gone. Once you qualify, the Champion's Quest contract appears in your next Core Battle Royale match and you pick it up like any other contract.

Two things to know before you start: this is Core Battle Royale only, so Resurgence wins do not count toward it, and the quest is a squad job. Every step below is easier with people who will actually hold an angle for you.

Every step of the quest

Once the contract is active, the run is the same sequence every time. The objectives sit in different places from match to match, the order does not.

  1. Find the crash sites and pull out the isotope.
  2. Shoot down the helicopter that turns up, which drops a care package.
  3. Recover the hard drive from that package.
  4. Get to the hidden bunker, which opens up around the third circle.
  5. Put the hard drive into the bunker terminal and let it decode.
  6. Deploy the missile launcher from the same terminal.
  7. Load the isotope into the launcher.
  8. Keep your squad near the launcher while it deploys.
  9. Arm the nuke once deployment hits 100 percent.
  10. Defend it for 30 seconds.

Every one of those steps is interruptible. Other squads can drop the carrier and take the isotope, hit the transport, or walk up and defuse your nuke after you have armed it.

The 30 second defend is the real test

Arming the nuke tells the entire lobby where you are. Thirty seconds does not sound like much until you are holding a fixed position with no option to rotate and every remaining squad pushing one point.

This is where the run usually ends. Not on the streak, not on the fetch quest, on the defend. Set up before you arm: know which buildings look into the launcher, spend your plates first, and have one player watching the direction nobody is watching.

What you actually get

Finishing the quest wins the match outright, everyone else is gone. Per the Dexerto wiki the quest carries ten unlocks in total: weapon camos, an operator skin, calling cards, an emblem, sprays, a melee blueprint, a finishing move and emotes. There is also a separate animated calling card for disarming somebody else's armed nuke, which is the pettiest reward in the game and worth having.

Why most runs never reach the quest

Be honest about where the difficulty sits. The quest itself is a set of objectives you can learn. Five Battle Royale wins in a row is the wall. Good squads lose games they should win because of one bad final circle or one third party at the wrong moment, and nothing about your own play controls who else makes the last ring.

If you want the streak to be realistic:

  • Play Core Battle Royale with the same squad. The quest needs coordination, not four strangers.
  • Treat every win as a checkpoint, not a lap. One loss costs more than one win gains here, so the boring safe play is correct.
  • Warm up first. Warzone bot lobbies are private lobbies we fill with our own bots, which is the place to rehearse a loadout or a rotation before you burn a real streak attempt.
  • Fix the endgame, not the aim. Most streaks die in the last two circles, and that is what Warzone coaching is actually for.

Warzone nuke and MW4 nuke are not the same thing

People mix these up constantly, and they are two different jobs.

Warzone nuke MW4 multiplayer nuke
What it is The Champion's Quest A 30 kill scorestreak
How you earn it Five Battle Royale wins in a row, then the quest 30 kills in one life
What resets it Losing a game, or a new season Dying
Guide This one How to get a nuke in MW4

If the streak is the part you cannot get past

That is the whole reason our Warzone nuke boost exists: a verified pro plays the streak and the quest on your account, hand-played, with the detonation posted in your order chat. If it is only wins you need and not the nuke, the Warzone wins boost is the smaller order. Everything else for the game sits on the Warzone boosting hub.

And if you would rather land it yourself, that is the better story. Go take the four wins first.

FAQ

How do you get a nuke in Warzone?

You complete the Champion's Quest. First you qualify for the contract by winning five Core Battle Royale matches in a row or 30 matches in a season. Then, in your next match, you pick up the contract, recover the isotope and hard drive, open the bunker, deploy the launcher, arm the nuke and defend it for 30 seconds.

How many wins do you need for the Warzone nuke?

Five Core Battle Royale wins back to back. There is a second route for anyone who does not want to rely on a streak: 30 wins in a single season also unlocks the contract.

Does losing a game reset the nuke streak?

Yes. One loss puts the streak back to zero, which is why most nuke attempts die before the quest ever starts. A new season resets progress as well.

Which mode is the Champion's Quest in?

Core Battle Royale. Resurgence wins do not count toward the five in a row, and the quest itself only runs in Core Battle Royale matches.

Is the Warzone nuke the same as the MW4 nuke?

No. The Warzone nuke is the Champion's Quest, a win streak plus an in-match quest. The Modern Warfare 4 nuke is a scorestreak for 30 kills without dying. Different challenges, different products.

What do you get for detonating a nuke in Warzone?

The detonation wins the match outright. The quest carries ten unlocks in total, including weapon camos, an operator skin, calling cards, an emblem, sprays, a melee blueprint, a finishing move and emotes, and there is a separate animated calling card for defusing an armed enemy nuke.
