MW4 Monster Energy Hidden Reward and the 161 Code Tier

What is the MW4 Monster Energy hidden reward?

The hidden reward is the sixth item on the Monster Energy x Modern Warfare 4 reward ladder. Monster's own wording calls it the Mystery Item. Players call it the hidden reward, the secret reward or the locked reward, and they all mean the same thing: reward number six, which Monster reveals later in the promotion.

There is a second one, and this is where nearly everyone gets confused. A separate hidden reward sits right at the top of the ladder, at code 161. That one is a DLC code for its own Mystery Item, and it is not the same item as reward six.

So: two hidden rewards. One at six cans, one at 161.

How the Monster Energy points ladder works

This is the part that is worth understanding before you buy anything, because the cosmetics and the Double XP work on two different tracks.

Every qualifying can carries one point and 15 minutes of Double XP.

• The points unlock the cosmetics. The first six points each unlock one reward.
• The Double XP just stacks. It keeps accumulating past point six, all the way to the 40 hour cap, which lands at 160 codes. Double XP is capped at 1 hour per day and 40 hours per account.
• Code 161 is the top of the ladder and earns the second hidden reward as a DLC code.

That is also why the ladder ends where it does. 161 is the maximum the promotion allows per account, so there is nothing above it to chase.

Six cans, six tabs, six codes, six rewards. If your goal is the cosmetics and nothing else, six is your number and everything past that is Double XP.

How many Monster Energy cans do you actually need?

Depends what you are after, and the honest answer splits three ways.

• Just the cosmetics, hidden reward included: six cans.
• Maxed Double XP: 160 cans. At 15 minutes each that is the full 40 hours.
• Everything, including the top tier hidden reward: 161 cans.

Worth sitting with that middle number for a second. 160 cans of energy drink to max the Double XP is not a realistic amount of caffeine for one person, and that is before you find 160 marked cans in stock near you.

The second hidden reward at 161

The 161st code earns a DLC code for a separate Mystery Item. Two things about it:

First, it is not redeemed on the spot. The DLC code unlocks after a drop date Monster has not announced yet.

Second, it is genuinely the ceiling. 161 is the per-account maximum, so once you have it there is nothing further in the promotion to unlock.

Which Monster cans count

The promotion runs on 16 oz cans of:

• Monster Energy Original
• Monster Energy Zero Sugar
• Monster Energy Zero Ultra

The code sits under the ring-pull tab, and some cans use a QR code you scan instead. Regional stock is the real problem here: the marked cans are a limited promotional print, and plenty of countries never got them at all.

The dates that matter

• September 1, 2026: the promotion started and the marked cans went on sale.
• October 23, 2026: Modern Warfare 4 launches. Your Double XP goes to work and the cosmetics land on your account.
• March 31, 2027: the promotion ends, no new points after that.
• April 30, 2027: the last day codes stay redeemable. After that they expire.

The reward at point 6 is revealed later in the promotion, no date announced. The reward at code 161 unlocks after a drop date Monster has not announced yet.

Double XP is only worth what you point it at. Most people bank it for the launch rush, and it stacks with anything you are already doing: MW4 account leveling, the MW4 battle pass, or weapon levels through MW4 weapon leveling.
