MW4 weapon leveling means a verified pro plays the Modern Warfare 4 guns you pick up to max level, so every attachment unlocks, including the Apex Attachment that only opens at max. Why max level matters in MW4: the Apex Attachment

A meta build is useless at weapon level 4. Standard attachments unlock step by step as a gun levels, and MW4 has around 500 of them across the Gunsmith. The one players chase is the Apex Attachment, the final reward for maxing out a weapon. Apex Attachments aren't small stat tweaks. They can change how a gun fundamentally behaves, and they don't use one of your normal attachment slots, so you run one on top of a full build. There are 28 in the game at launch. Most guns get one, a few offer a choice of two, and some weapons have none. Leveling to max is the only way to open it.

Level them yourself or have them leveled?

Honest answer: if you only care about a couple of guns and you play most evenings, you will get there yourself, especially if you save your Weapon XP tokens for a Double Weapon XP window. Does MW4 weapon XP carry over to Warzone?

In Modern Warfare 4, weapon levels are shared between Multiplayer and DMZ, and Activision says Warzone joins with Season 1. Either way, everything earned stays on your account: weapon XP, camo progress and attachment unlocks.

Past max level: prestige camos

Want a gun past max too? Set its target to Pyroclast, Pyroclast Terminus, Pyroclast Scatter or Pyroclast Cascade, the four Weapon Prestige camos, and the pro keeps going once the gun is maxed. At max level the gun enters Weapon Prestige 1, which puts it back to level 1 (Apex and Blueprint attachments stay unlocked): Pyroclast unlocks at Weapon Prestige 1 level 1 and Pyroclast Terminus at its max level, then the gun moves into Weapon Prestige Master without another reset, with Pyroclast Scatter at level 150 and Pyroclast Cascade at level 250. Weapon leveling vs camo boost

These are two different jobs. Leveling raises the gun's level for its attachments. A mastery camo comes from camo challenges, and you can finish a camo before the gun is maxed. Leveled guns make every camo grind easier, and once they are maxed, the MW4 camo boost and MW4 tier camo take them to the camos.

Everyone started at zero on October 23

Every gun in the MW4 weapon list starts at zero for everyone: weapon levels, attachment unlocks and camo progress do not carry from Black Ops 7 into Modern Warfare 4. Unspent 2XP tokens are the one exception, and a token does not level a gun for you. A player who has spent the whole BO7 year maxing guns opens MW4 with the same level 1 guns as someone who buys the game that morning.
