How to Unlock the Renaissance Camo in MW4

How to Unlock the Renaissance Camo in MW4

By Luke Setzer · Updated 11/7/2026

In short

Renaissance is one of three weapon camos from the Return to Call of Duty: Warzone event in MW4 Season 1. Activision named it on 2 November 2026 and published no requirement and no event window. Write-ups since 6 November claim it takes four Resurgence wins, with Resurgence Casuals counting and no need for a streak, but none of them names a source. The Events tab in game is the only place the real requirement is visible right now.

Renaissance is one of three weapon camos from the Return to Call of Duty: Warzone event in Modern Warfare 4 Season 1. If you are looking for the unlock requirement, the honest answer right now is that Activision has not published one, and the number going around does not have a source behind it.

Here is what is confirmed, what is not, and how to settle it yourself.

What Activision published

One sentence, in the Warzone Season 1 blog on 2 November 2026:

Look for the in-game Return to Call of Duty: Warzone Event for the chance to earn the "Renaissance," (Animated) "Violet Striker," and "Neutral Ground" Weapon Camos.

That is all of it. Three things follow from that sentence and nothing else does:

  • Renaissance comes from the in-game Return to Call of Duty: Warzone event.
  • Violet Striker is the animated one, not Renaissance. The label sits in front of Violet Striker in Activision's own wording, and plenty of write-ups have put it on the wrong camo.
  • The phrase is "for the chance to earn". No requirement, no event window, no end date.

The word "secret" does not appear anywhere in that blog, and neither does "hidden".

What the community says

From 6 November onward, guides and clips have been saying Renaissance unlocks from four Resurgence wins, that wins in Resurgence Casuals count, and that they do not have to be consecutive.

It is a specific, plausible claim, and it is the kind of requirement an event challenge really does use. But it is worth knowing where it comes from before you plan your evening around it:

Source What it is
A large games site, 6 November States the four wins plainly and names no source for it
A leak account on X, 7 November Relays a clip from another account
A camo checklist on a boosting site Lists "Win 4 Resurgence Games" in a table

No official page says it. The accuracy-first community trackers that normally carry exact camo requirements have not confirmed it either. And the same wave of coverage got the animated camo wrong, which is a decent hint about how carefully it was checked.

None of that makes it false. It makes it unconfirmed.

How to check it yourself

The event lives in the game, so the game is the source:

  1. Open Modern Warfare 4 or Warzone and go to the Events tab from the main menu.
  2. Find the Return to Call of Duty: Warzone event.
  3. The challenge list and the progress bars sit on the event page, along with the end date.

That takes about two minutes and beats any guide, including this one. If the event page shows four Resurgence wins, the claim was right. If it shows a challenge set like most Warzone events, it was not.

Where Resurgence wins come from, if that is the requirement

Resurgence is the smaller, faster Warzone mode where you redeploy while a squadmate is alive. Season 1 runs it on Zodiac, and the playlist sits alongside Battle Royale in the Warzone menu. Resurgence Casuals is the lower-pressure version of the same thing.

A Resurgence match is much shorter than a Battle Royale match, which is why a four-win target would be a reasonable event ask rather than a grind. Four wins is still four wins, though, and Warzone does not hand those out.

The other two camos

Violet Striker, the animated one, and Neutral Ground come from the same event. Our full breakdown of the event and every other free camo in Season 1 is in the Return to Warzone event guide.

Is it worth having someone else do it?

If the requirement really is four Resurgence wins, this is one of the cheapest camos in the game to earn yourself, and you should. Play Resurgence, win four times, done. No guide needed.

The case for handing it over is the deadline rather than the difficulty. Event camos go when the event goes, Activision has not said when that is, and a camo you miss does not come back the way a mastery camo waits for you. If the season is busy and you would rather not gamble on finding the time, the Warzone Renaissance camo unlock is hand-played by a verified pro on your account, and anything the deadline cuts short is refunded.

Either way, check the Events tab first. Knowing the real requirement is worth more than any shortcut.

FAQ

How do you get the Renaissance camo in MW4?

It comes from the in-game Return to Call of Duty: Warzone event in Season 1. Activision named the camo in the Warzone Season 1 blog on 2 November 2026 but published no unlock requirement. The Events tab in game shows the real challenge list and the end date.

Does Renaissance really take four Resurgence wins?

That claim has been circulating since 6 November, including that Resurgence Casuals count and that the wins need not be consecutive. No official source says it, and the sites repeating it do not name one. Treat it as unconfirmed until the in-game Events tab shows it.

Is Renaissance the animated camo?

No. In Activision's own sentence the Animated label sits in front of Violet Striker. Renaissance and Neutral Ground are the other two camos from the same event. Several write-ups have this the wrong way round.

Which camos does the Return to Warzone event give?

Three: Renaissance, Violet Striker and Neutral Ground. Activision listed them in the Warzone Season 1 blog on 2 November 2026 and described Violet Striker as animated.

When does the Return to Warzone event end?

Activision has not published the window. The blog said to look for the event in game and pointed to the Season 1 Reloaded blog for more detail closer to the mid-season update. The event page in game carries the end date.

Can you still get Renaissance after the event?

Almost certainly not. Event camos normally disappear with the event and do not return, unlike mastery camos, which have no deadline. That is the one real reason to not leave it to the last weekend.
