MW4 Warzone Season 1: Every Change That Matters

MW4 Warzone Season 1: Every Change That Matters

By Luke Setzer · Updated 11/2/2026

In short

Warzone Season 1 goes live at 0000 ET on 6 November 2026, which is 2100 PT on 5 November. Hajin is the new Battle Royale map, Zodiac the new Resurgence map, and Verdansk and Rebirth Island come back later in the season. Your player level resets across Multiplayer, DMZ and Warzone. All three Warzone mastery camo challenges are published: 5 kills in a match 300 times for Parallax, 2 kills without plating 200 times for Damascus Reforged, and a top 5 finish with at least 6 kills 75 times for Empyros, and they can be done with any weapon. Warzone arrives on Nintendo Switch 2 and leaves PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

The Call of Duty Warzone Season 1 roadmap

Season 1 is the update where Call of Duty: Warzone stops being a game next to Modern Warfare 4 and becomes part of it. New Battle Royale map, new Resurgence map, a player level reset, all 33 MW4 launch weapons with their full progression, and the three Warzone mastery camos finally carrying real challenges instead of a classified tag.

It goes live at 0000 ET on 6 November 2026. That is 2100 PT on 5 November, and early morning on 6 November in Europe.

The three Warzone mastery camos, and what they really cost

The MW4 Warzone mastery camos, with Parallax shown as an animated camo

This is the part the camo crowd was waiting for. Until the Season 1 blog, Activision listed all three as classified. Now they are out, and the gate is the same one Multiplayer and DMZ sit behind: a weapon needs its Military, Special and Completionist camos, and the chain opens at Divergence, which takes Harmonic Break on all 33 launch weapons.

Tier Camo Challenge
Warzone Mastery 1 Parallax Get 5 kills in a match, 300 times
Warzone Mastery 2 Damascus Reforged Get 2 kills without plating, 200 times
Warzone Mastery 3 Empyros Place in the top 5 with at least 6 kills, 75 times

Two things are worth more than the numbers themselves.

You are not locked to one gun. Activision says the Warzone mastery grind can be completed with any weapon or combination of weapons. Multiplayer does not work that way: Orion Reforged there is 5 kills without dying 500 times on a single gun of your choice. In Warzone you can ride whatever is strong that week.

The smallest number is the hardest. Empyros asks for 75, against 300 for Parallax, and it is still the brutal one. Every one of those 75 matches has to go right twice over: you have to survive into the top 5, and you have to have taken six fights on the way. Those two pull against each other. Counted end to end the chain is 300 matches, then 200, then 75, and qualifying is the word doing the work in all three.

Parallax is also shown as an animated camo in Activision's own image, which is not something the Multiplayer set advertises.

Full breakdowns per camo: Parallax, Damascus Reforged and Empyros. All nine mastery camos side by side: MW4 mastery camos.

Hajin, the new Battle Royale map

Hajin, the new MW4 Warzone Battle Royale map

Hajin takes Warzone to the Korean peninsula for the first time, and it is tied to the Modern Warfare 4 campaign. You fight across 13 major points of interest on both sides of the border: Hajin City with its towering blocks and barricaded roads, open ground like Imjin Farmland, and North Korean locations including the 14th Political Prison, Chang-san Air Base and Deadtown.

Two details that change matches rather than just the scenery:

  • Weather is variable. Clear skies, fog, wind, rain and distant storms, decided per match.
  • A new Gulag, in two versions. Both are small symmetrical arenas, one with partial walls over open ground and one with sheds over a flagstone walkway, both exposed to the weather. You can mantle most of the cover, and you can now spectate from ground level while you wait.

DMZ players already know the terrain, but the Battle Royale version differs in how the Edge Circle and gas move, in the vehicles, in the loot, and in the fact that the Hanuel Nuclear Reactor has no radioactive cloud.

Zodiac, the new Resurgence map

Zodiac, the new MW4 Warzone Resurgence map

Zodiac is the compact one, built around the DRC Advanced Systems drone manufacturing headquarters in South Korea, with 10 points of interest: Admin, Trackline, Furnace, Solar, Old Mines, Dispatch, Depot, Sentinel, Cooling and R&D.

What makes it read differently from Rebirth Island is the layering. Trackline runs a double railway with moving trains through the middle of the map, underground tunnels let a squad cross without being seen, and there are moving solar panels, furnace conveyor belts and explosive fuel barrels to use. Beenox built it with Infinity Ward, the same studio behind Rebirth Island and Vondel.

The gear that changes how you play

An Operator firing the new Zipline Launcher in MW4 Warzone

  • Zipline Launcher. Fire it to create anchors and a line, then use it to get on a roof or cross a gap. It stays on the map until it is retrieved or destroyed, and anyone can ride it, including the squad hunting you. You can use your pistol while traversing.
  • Grabber Drone. A rare drone with a claw. It picks up loot, environmental objects, Buy Station loot and even Operators, so you can drag a downed teammate somewhere safe before reviving. Limited battery.
  • Pushable objects. Fuel barrels you can move and detonate, plus dumpsters, concrete cylinders and pyramids you can push into roads to stop vehicles. Mostly on Hajin, Zodiac and Verdansk.
  • Weapon Augments. Drones drop portable "Fly Buy" Buy Stations during a match. These sell augments that upgrade your gun for that match only: CQC, Marksman and Handling, in limited quantities.
  • Ground Ops. Discoverable jobs in the world: safes to drill, surveillance towers for enemy intel, drones to shoot down for their cargo, and radioactive barrels you locate with a Geiger counter.
  • Weapon Trade Station and Drop Kits, Resurgence only. Trade your weapon for a higher rarity version, or bank a Drop Kit that improves your next redeploy. The four kits are Insured (cash kept), Loadout, Armored (full armour, bonus perks, Self-Revive) and Radar.
  • Grind for Royalty. Personal challenges generated from your own stats, reset every season, with two camos to earn. Season 1 gives "Gold Excellence" and "Gold Mosaic". Because the targets come out of your own records, a strong player gets a harder set than a casual one, and there is no spreadsheet anywhere that matches your account.

Elite Perks, the fourth slot

Warzone runs 18 perks in Season 1. Fifteen go in your loadout across three slots. The other three are Elite Perks, which you cannot bring in: you find them at Buy Stations or from Supply Run Contracts, and you can only hold one at a time. They add a fourth slot for the rest of the match.

  • Athleticism. More agile strafing, crouching and aiming, with reduced penalties for jumping and sliding.
  • Phantom. Undetectable by enemy recon killstreaks, equipment and perks.
  • Fieldcraft. Rapid armour and equipment regeneration.

Two loadout changes matter outside that: Tactical Sprint no longer needs a perk and is available to everyone, at a slightly shorter duration, and you can drag a teammate while reviving them out of the open.

What the integration does to your account

This is the section to read before you log in on 6 November.

  • Your player level resets, and the new one is shared across Multiplayer, DMZ and Warzone, with optional Prestige.
  • All 33 MW4 launch weapons are available with the full weapon experience: Weapon Prestige, Apex Attachments, and the Warzone mastery camos above.
  • Older guns still work, with limits. Weapons from Modern Warfare II through Black Ops 7 sit in a Legacy tab. They cannot be edited in Gunsmith and do not support mastery camos, reticle challenges, weapon customization, cosmetic gunsmithing or build codes. You get a five attachment version of each, plus any blueprint you own, unlocked through Player XP in the Armory.
  • Your cosmetics carry over. Operators, skins, blueprints, calling cards, emblems, finishing moves, emotes, sprays, parachutes and contrails from MW2, MW3, Black Ops 6 and Black Ops 7 are in. A new Operator Skin Toggle controls which skins you see, in Warzone only.
  • PlayStation 4 and Xbox One are done. Warzone and Modern Warfare 4 move off last generation hardware. Log in with the same linked Activision account on a supported platform and your progression follows you.
  • Nintendo Switch 2 gets Warzone for the first time, at the start of Season 1.

More on what transfers: MW4 carry forward. On the prestige side: MW4 weapon prestige.

Modes at launch

Battle Royale and Resurgence stay the core, each with a Casual variant. Battle Royale runs on Hajin, Resurgence on Zodiac, and Verdansk and Rebirth Island join them later in the season. On top of that there are three limited time modes at launch:

Mode Map Players What it is
Rally Point Zodiac 20 No circle, infinite Resurgence, drop in and out whenever. A sandbox with contracts, hostile soldiers and an exclusive blueprint plus two camos to earn
Massive Resurgence Hajin 120 Resurgence rules on the big map
Loaded Resurgence Zodiac or Rebirth Island 44 Infil with your loadout, keep your guns after death, earn perks through eliminations

Rally Point is the interesting one if you are coming back after a break or bringing a friend in: no circle, nothing to lose, and Neutral Grounds where you can team up with strangers mid match. Extreme Resurgence and Rockets and Snipers are listed for the Mid-Season.

Multiplayer and DMZ in one minute

Season 1 is not only Warzone. The short version from Activision's Multiplayer and DMZ blog:

  • Multiplayer gets Kill Block, a playlist where the map stays put and the modes rotate, launching with Crash front and centre. Shipment is already in the game, it arrived on 27 October before the season started.
  • DMZ opens X01, a Black Site with its own equipment and new bosses. The Boss Board adds the lieutenants Tae-Hyun ("Knuckle") and Chol-Min ("The Wrench"), and the commanders The Captain, a Juggernaut with an elite guard, and an autonomous Wheelson. Your FOB gets a Battle Pass and Store station, and a vendor that takes DMZ Cash if you own BlackCell.
  • New guns, shared across all three modes. The Cronen Osprey assault rifle at Battle Pass tier 16 and the CSG-35 SMG at tier 36, with the full auto JAK 12 shotgun and a combat axe arriving later as event rewards.
  • Battle Pass. A linear 100 tier track with 100 or more rewards, 1,100 COD Points for the pass or 2,400 for the bundle, plus a new catch up system that guarantees 50 or more rewards in the premium pass. Season 1 operators are Blix and BlackCell Agent XERO.

One free thing worth two minutes: verifying the email on your Call of Duty account unlocks the "Locked Down" universal weapon camo. No grind attached.

What we would do in the first week

  • Do not start the camo chain on day one. Divergence needs Harmonic Break on all 33 launch weapons, and that is the real wall in front of Parallax. Weapon levels are the part that never goes to waste, so that is where the first week pays off.
  • Save your 2XP tokens for the reset. Tokens burn during match time rather than real time in MW4, which makes them worth far more than in older games, and a level reset is exactly when you want them.
  • Pick Resurgence if you are chasing Parallax. Five kills is a low bar, so what you want is finished matches per hour, and Zodiac gives you more of them than Hajin does.
  • Leave Empyros for later. It needs the two camos under it anyway, and placement plus six kills is not something you force in week one on a map you do not know yet.

Want the camos without 575 matches

That is what we do. A verified pro plays it by hand on your account, no unlock tools and no software: Parallax, Damascus Reforged and Empyros, or the whole grind in one order with MW4 camo boost. If the wall in front of you is Divergence rather than the camos themselves, that is weapon leveling.

Honest answer on safety, because it matters more than a sales line: Activision's rules count boosting as a violation, and any penalty applies to the account no matter who played, so no shop can promise your account is safe. We keep every order hand played by a verified pro with no cheats, tools or bots, and if your order is not delivered as described, you get your money back.

The season also hands out camos that are not part of that chain and do not wait for you: the ones from the running event, and the two from Grind for Royalty. Those are a separate order, Warzone event camos and Grind for Royalty, and the full list of what Season 1 gives away free is in every free camo in MW4 Season 1.

FAQ

When does Warzone Season 1 start?

At 0000 ET on 6 November 2026, which is 2100 PT on 5 November and early morning on 6 November in Europe. It goes live across all platforms at the same time, including Nintendo Switch 2, where Call of Duty: Warzone launches for the first time.

What are the three Warzone mastery camo challenges in MW4?

Parallax is Warzone Mastery 1: get 5 kills in a match, 300 times. Damascus Reforged is Mastery 2: get 2 kills without plating, 200 times. Empyros is Mastery 3: place in the top 5 with at least 6 kills, 75 times. All three sit behind Divergence, which takes Harmonic Break on all 33 launch weapons, and they can be completed with any weapon or combination of weapons.

Does my level reset in Warzone Season 1?

Yes. The player level resets with the integration and the new one is shared across Multiplayer, DMZ and Warzone, with optional Prestige on top. Your cosmetics from Modern Warfare II through Black Ops 7 carry over, and so does progression tied to your Activision account.

Can I still play Warzone on PS4 or Xbox One?

No. Starting with Season 1, Call of Duty: Warzone and Modern Warfare 4 are no longer playable on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Log in with the same linked Activision account on a supported platform and your progression carries over.

Do my old weapons still work after the integration?

They are usable but limited. Weapons from Modern Warfare II through Black Ops 7 sit in a Legacy tab, cannot be edited in Gunsmith, and do not support mastery camos, reticle challenges, weapon customization, cosmetic gunsmithing or build codes. You get a five attachment version of each, and legacy blueprints unlock through Player XP in the Armory.

Which map is best for the Parallax camo grind?

The challenge is 5 kills in a match, 300 times, so what matters is finished matches per hour rather than long games. Resurgence on Zodiac gives you more of them than a full Battle Royale on Hajin. The challenge does not care which weapon you use.
