Return to Warzone Event: Every Free Camo in MW4 Season 1
By Luke Setzer · Updated 11/2/2026
The Return to Call of Duty: Warzone event runs in Season 1 and gives three weapon camos: Renaissance, Violet Striker and Neutral Ground. Activision named them in the Warzone Season 1 blog on 2 November 2026 but has not published the requirements or the dates, so treat anyone quoting exact numbers today as guessing. Season 1 also hands out free camos through Grind for Royalty (Gold Excellence and Gold Mosaic), Rally Point, the Wager Match event, and one that takes two minutes: verifying the email on your Call of Duty account unlocks the Locked Down universal camo.
Season 1 brings the Warzone mastery camos, and those are a few hundred matches each. This page is about the other kind: the camos you get from events and from things that take minutes rather than weeks.
The headline one is the Return to Call of Duty: Warzone event.
What the Return to Warzone event gives you
Activision named the rewards in the Warzone Season 1 blog on 2 November 2026. Three weapon camos:
| Camo | Note |
|---|---|
| Renaissance | |
| Violet Striker | Activision puts "(Animated)" directly in front of this one |
| Neutral Ground | Shares its name with the Neutral Grounds in Rally Point, where you can team up with strangers mid match |
That is the complete official wording on the rewards. Everything past that is not out yet.
What is not published yet
Three things, and this is the honest part:
- The requirements. No match counts, no kill conditions, no XP thresholds.
- The dates. The event is listed for Season 1, which starts at 0000 ET on 6 November 2026, but the event window itself has no published start or end.
- Whether it is tied to coming back. The name reads like a returning player event, and Activision has not said whether it treats a lapsed player differently from someone who never stopped.
What Activision does say about the shape of Season 1 camo events in general is one line: "Play matches to earn XP and acquire Weapon Camos." That is the usual pattern, a progress bar fed by match XP with camos sitting at thresholds, and it is what we would plan around. It is an expectation, not a published rule, and this page gets the real numbers the day they land.
Every free camo in MW4 Season 1
The event is one of several. Here is the full picture, so you know what is worth your time before the season even starts.
| Source | Camos | What it takes |
|---|---|---|
| Return to Call of Duty: Warzone event | Renaissance, Violet Striker, Neutral Ground | Not published yet |
| Grind for Royalty | Gold Excellence, Gold Mosaic | Personal challenges generated from your own stats, reset every season. One static camo, one animated |
| Rally Point | Two weapon camos, plus an exclusive blueprint | Earned inside the Rally Point mode on Zodiac |
| Wager Match event | A weapon camo among the rewards | Trophies collected in the Gauntlet 1v1 Gunfight playlist and other qualifying playlists |
| Weapon Camo events | Not named yet | Play matches to earn XP |
| Email verification | Locked Down, universal | Verify the email on your Call of Duty account |
Do the last one now. Verifying your account email unlocks the Locked Down universal weapon camo, it goes on any weapon, and it costs you a click rather than a match. It is the single cheapest camo in the game and most people never notice it exists.
Grind for Royalty is the sleeper. Because the challenges are generated from your own stats rather than a fixed table, a casual player gets a target a casual player can hit. The flip side is that a strong player gets a harder set, and there is no spreadsheet anywhere that matches your account. The two camos reset and change every season, so Gold Excellence and Gold Mosaic are Season 1 only. If you want them without the hunt, that is our Grind for Royalty boost.
Event camos are not mastery camos
Worth being clear about, because the names blur together.
| Event camos | Mastery camos | |
|---|---|---|
| Cost | Usually a handful of matches | Hundreds of matches |
| Window | Time limited, gone when the event ends | Permanent, no deadline |
| Gate | None, you just play | Divergence, which takes Harmonic Break on all 33 launch weapons |
| Season 1 examples | Renaissance, Violet Striker, Neutral Ground | Parallax, Damascus Reforged, Empyros |
The practical difference: an event camo you miss is gone, a mastery camo you have not started is still waiting for you next month. So when the event window opens, that is the thing with a clock on it.
For the permanent set, all nine are here: MW4 mastery camos. For everything else arriving on 6 November: MW4 Warzone Season 1.
What we would do when the event starts
- Read the in game event page first. It carries the real requirements, and it is live before any blog catches up.
- Do not burn 2XP tokens on an XP based event. If the progress bar is fed by match XP rather than by time, tokens are worth more later in the season on weapon leveling, which is the part of the camo grind that never expires.
- Play the mode you are already playing. Camo events have historically counted across playlists, so switching to a mode you dislike to chase a camo usually costs more time than it saves.
If the window is the problem, not the grind
Event camos are free. What is not free is the window, and that is the whole problem with them: they land in the middle of a work week and they do not wait.
- Warzone event camos. The camos from the event that is running, cleared before it closes. If the event ends before we finish, the unfinished part is refunded.
- Warzone Grind for Royalty boost. Gold Excellence and Gold Mosaic. Priced per camo rather than per challenge, because your Royalty targets are generated from your own stats and nobody can price that up front.
- The mastery chain, which is the long one: Divergence on all 33 weapons, then 300 matches, then 200, then 75. Parallax, Damascus Reforged, Empyros, or all of it in one order with MW4 camo boost.
Every one of them is hand-played by a verified pro on your account, no unlock tools and no software.
Honest answer on safety: Activision's rules count boosting as a violation, and any penalty applies to the account no matter who played, so no shop can promise your account is safe. We keep every order hand played with no cheats, tools or bots, and if your order is not delivered as described, you get your money back.
Track what you already own in the free MW4 camo tracker.

FAQ
What is the Return to Call of Duty: Warzone event?
An in game event in Modern Warfare 4 Season 1 that hands out three weapon camos: Renaissance, Violet Striker and Neutral Ground. Activision named the rewards in the Warzone Season 1 blog on 2 November 2026 and has not yet published what the event asks you to do.
What camos do you get from the Return to Warzone event?
Three: Renaissance, Violet Striker and Neutral Ground. Activision puts "(Animated)" directly in front of Violet Striker in its own wording, so that is the animated one of the three.
When does the Return to Warzone event start?
No start or end date has been published. The event is listed for Season 1, which goes live at 0000 ET on 6 November 2026, that is 2100 PT on 5 November. The in game event page will carry the real window before any blog does.
What is the easiest free camo in MW4 Season 1?
Locked Down. Verify the email on your Call of Duty account and it unlocks as a universal weapon camo, so it goes on any gun. No matches, no grind, and most players never notice it is there.
Are event camos the same as mastery camos?
No. Event camos are time limited and usually take a handful of matches, and they disappear when the event ends. Mastery camos like Parallax, Damascus Reforged and Empyros are permanent, sit behind Divergence, and take hundreds of matches each. Missing an event camo is permanent, putting off a mastery camo is not.
Which camos does Grind for Royalty give in Season 1?
Gold Excellence and Gold Mosaic, one static and one animated. The challenges are generated from your own player stats and reset every season, so the pair is Season 1 only.
