The GTA 6 Map: Every Region of Leonida Rockstar Has Confirmed
By Luke Setzer · Updated 9/10/2026
GTA 6 is set in the state of Leonida. Rockstar has confirmed six named destinations: Vice City, Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga National Park. Rockstar has not released a full map or confirmed a size, so every square kilometre figure you have seen is an estimate.
GTA 6 is set in the state of Leonida, Rockstar's take on Florida, and it is a great deal more than one city. Here are the six destinations Rockstar has actually named, and what each one appears to be.
Last updated: 10 September 2026.
Vice City
The centrepiece, sitting on the southeast shoreline, and the largest and most detailed city on the map. Preview coverage put it at roughly twice the size of Los Santos, though that is an estimate rather than a Rockstar figure.
This is the part of the map everyone came for, and based on the Extended Look it is dense in the way Los Santos never quite was: real interiors, crowded streets, and a strong sense of neighbourhoods that look different from each other.
Leonida Keys
Tropical islands, long bridges, boats and coastline, drawn from the Florida Keys. Structurally this is the region that makes water traversal matter rather than being scenery you drive past.
Grassrivers
The wetlands, Everglades in everything but name. Swamp, waterways and the kind of terrain that makes a police chase a completely different problem than it is in a city.
Port Gellhorn
An older Gulf Coast resort town, past its best days. Rockstar has always been good at this specific kind of place, somewhere that used to be somewhere.
Ambrosia
Industrial and working class, built around the Allied Crystal Sugar refinery, with blue collar workers and biker gangs in the mix. If the rest of Leonida is the postcard, this is the part of the state that actually goes to work.
Mount Kalaga National Park
The northern wilderness. Forest, rugged terrain, outdoor space. This is the Red Dead influence showing up in a GTA map, and it is the region that most changes what the game can be away from a city.
About the map size
Rockstar has not confirmed a size and has not released a full map.
What exists are estimates from people who watched the Extended Look: roughly double GTA 5's map, with comparisons running as high as three times Red Dead Redemption 2. Those numbers move around depending on who is doing the estimating, which tells you what they are worth. Anyone giving you a precise figure in square kilometres is guessing with more decimal places.
There may also be further named locations Rockstar simply has not shown yet. Six destinations is what has been confirmed, not a complete list.
Why the regions matter mechanically
This is the part most map articles skip. GTA 6's police respond to what is actually witnessed or caught on security, and the wanted display shows what the authorities know about you: identity, outfit, vehicle. That system behaves very differently in a dense Vice City street than in Grassrivers wetland or on a Keys bridge with one way off it.
A map with a swamp, a national park, an island chain and a dense city is not just variety for its own sake. It is four different sets of rules for getting away.
