MW4 Weapons List: All 33 Launch Guns by Class

By Luke Setzer · Updated 10/16/2026

In short

Modern Warfare 4 launches with 33 weapons across nine classes, a figure from Activision’s own beta weapons guide. That is 24 primaries, 8 secondaries and the Combat Knife. Twenty-two were playable in the beta, including the M4, Han 86, ISO Nightshade and KG-7 Vulcan. Returning names at launch include the Oden, the VEL 46, the Cronen Squall and the Mosin-Nagant. Every supported weapon ends its level track with an Apex Attachment that does not use an attachment slot.

Modern Warfare 4 ships with 33 weapons across nine classes. That number is Activision's own, from the official beta weapons guide, which also says you could wield up to 22 of them during the beta. Here is the full arsenal by class, which ones you already got your hands on, and which names are back from older Modern Warfare games.

What is confirmed and what is not

Activision's beta weapons guide names 22 weapons and states the launch total of 33. Those 22 are marked above as played in the beta, and their spelling comes from that page. The 11 marked "new at launch" complete the 33, and Activision has not published them one by one yet. If any name turns out different in the live game, this page gets corrected the same day rather than quietly left standing.

One spelling quirk worth knowing: the pistol shows up as both Krait P68 and Karit P68, on Activision's own page no less, where the text and the weapon card disagree. Same gun either way.

The returning names

Five of the launch guns are names Modern Warfare players already know, which fits a game whose mastery camos are called Polyatomic Reforged and Orion Reforged:

  • Oden, the hard-hitting AR from Modern Warfare 2019.
  • VEL 46, the SMG from Modern Warfare II (2022).
  • Cronen Squall, the burst-fire AR that landed in Modern Warfare II.
  • Mosin-Nagant, the bolt action that has been through several Call of Duty games.
  • PPSh-41, a World War Two staple that keeps coming back, and it was in the beta.

Apex Attachments: every weapon that supports one

The thing that actually changes how you grind in MW4: each supported weapon has its own Apex Attachment, unlocked as the final reward for fully leveling that weapon. It equips separately from your Gunsmith attachments and does not use an attachment slot.

Per Activision, the exceptions are weapons only available through a default loadout, the launchers, and the Combat Knife. Everything else can be leveled and has one waiting at the top.

That is the real reason people max weapons in this game. It is not the camo alone, it is that the last level hands you something the gun did not have before. Levels do not transfer from Black Ops 7 either, so everyone starts the arsenal from zero: MW4 carry forward has the detail.

How long does maxing an arsenal take?

Honestly, more than most people have time for across 24 primaries. If you want the Apex Attachments on the guns you actually use, our MW4 weapon leveling lets you pick exactly those guns and a verified pro levels them by hand, no cheats, no tools. The weapon picker on that page now lists every launch gun by name.

Going for camos on top? Weapon level and camo progress are separate jobs, and MW4 camo boost covers the mastery side.

FAQ

How many weapons does MW4 have at launch?

Thirty-three, across nine weapon classes. That figure comes from Activision’s own beta weapons guide, which says players could wield up to 22 of the 33 weapons available at launch. The 33 break down into 24 primaries, 8 secondaries and the Combat Knife.

What are all the MW4 assault rifles?

Eight: Han 86, M4, Hyeon Burst, Kastov 762, Patriot XMR, Axion, Oden and Cronen Squall. The first six were in the beta, with the Axion restricted to a default loadout. Oden and Cronen Squall are additions at launch.

Which MW4 weapons were in the beta?

Twenty-two of the thirty-three, named on Activision’s beta weapons guide: six assault rifles, four SMGs, one shotgun, two LMGs, two marksman rifles, two sniper rifles, three pistols, one launcher and the Combat Knife.

Is it Krait P68 or Karit P68?

Both spellings appear on Activision’s own beta weapons page, where the text and the weapon card do not match. It is the same semi-automatic pistol either way.

What is an Apex Attachment in MW4?

A final reward for fully leveling a supported weapon. It equips separately from Gunsmith attachments and does not take up an attachment slot. Weapons that are only available in a default loadout, the launchers and the Combat Knife do not have one.

Do weapon levels carry over from Black Ops 7 to MW4?

No. Weapon levels, attachment unlocks and camo progress do not carry from Black Ops 7 into Modern Warfare 4. Unspent 2XP tokens are the one exception, and a token does not level a gun for you.
