GTA 6 on PC: What Rockstar Has Said, and What Everyone Is Guessing

By Luke Setzer · Updated 9/10/2026

In short

Rockstar has not announced a PC version of GTA 6 or any PC date. The game launches 19 November 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only. GTA 5 reached PC roughly a year and a half after console, which is a pattern from history, not a commitment.

Short version: Rockstar has not announced a PC version of GTA 6. No platform confirmation, no date, no system requirements. Anything you have seen with a specific PC date attached is either a rumour or someone doing arithmetic on GTA 5's release history.

What is confirmed

GTA 6 launches 19 November 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and Series S. Preload opens 12 November. That is the complete confirmed platform list.

What history actually shows

This is where the expectation comes from, and it is worth stating precisely rather than as a vibe.

GTA 5 released on console in 2013 and reached PC in 2015, roughly a year and a half later. Rockstar's recent large releases have generally followed a console first pattern with PC arriving afterwards.

That is a pattern. It is not a commitment, it is not a schedule, and Rockstar has never described it as a policy. Treating "they did it before" as "they will do it again on the same timeline" is exactly how confident wrong articles get written.

How to read the rumours

A few practical filters:

  • Retailer listings and store placeholders are not announcements. Storefronts create pages speculatively and they get taken down.
  • Job listings mentioning PC tell you a company employs PC engineers. Rockstar has PC titles.
  • Leakers with a track record are worth reading and still not the same as a Rockstar statement. Track records are built on being right often, not always.
  • A confident date with no source is the clearest signal that there is no source.

The only thing that will settle this is Rockstar saying it.

Should you wait

An honest framing rather than a recommendation, because it depends on things only you know.

Waiting costs you an unknown amount of time, since there is no date to wait for, and it costs you the launch window of a story driven game, which is the one time the internet is not yet full of spoilers.

Buying on console costs you money on a platform you might not otherwise use, and means playing at console settings.

There is no clever answer here. The one thing not worth doing is waiting based on a date somebody made up.

What we do about it

We are a console side shop for GTA 6, because that is where the game is. Our GTA 6 services run on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S from launch, covering story completion, specific missions, and trophies or achievements.

If a PC version is announced, we will say so on this page with Rockstar's own wording, and we will not be publishing a PC date before they do.

FAQ

Is GTA 6 coming to PC?

Rockstar has not announced a PC version. The confirmed launch platforms are PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

When will GTA 6 come to PC?

There is no announced date. Any specific PC date circulating is a rumour or an extrapolation from GTA 5's release history.

Why does Rockstar release on console first?

Rockstar has not given an official reason. Historically their recent big releases have gone to console first with PC following later.

Should I wait for the PC version?

That depends on how long you are willing to wait for something with no announced date. There is no guarantee about timing, and spoilers for a story game do not wait.
