MW4 Maps and Modes: Everything Confirmed So Far
By Luke Setzer · Updated 10/4/2026
Five Core 6v6 maps were playable in the Modern Warfare 4 beta: Rooftops, Silkworm, Transit 213, Cachette and Lotus, plus the modular Gunfight map Kill Block. Shipment is confirmed to return but has no date or playlist detail. Modes from the beta are Team Deathmatch, Domination, Hardpoint, Kill Confirmed, Search and Destroy, the new Inflation, Gunfight in 3v3 and 10v10, and Ground War: Combat Outpost, with the new Collateral mode announced since. Activision has not published the full launch map list.
Modern Warfare 4 launches on October 23, 2026. Activision has not published the full launch map list, so this page sticks to what has actually been shown or played, and says plainly where the gaps are.
The maps people have already played
These are the Core 6v6 maps from the open beta. All five are new, and all five carry into the game.
| Map | Where it is | What it plays like |
|---|---|---|
| Rooftops | Hotel Times West, New York, under snow | Elevated walkways and several routes to flank with |
| Silkworm | A dense South Korean shopping district | Storefronts, alleyways and apartments, fast and unpredictable |
| Transit 213 | An overgrown Indian bus depot | Rusting buses, concealed routes, long sightlines |
| Cachette | A hideout beside a French rail terminal | Containers, rooftops, compact interiors built for flanking |
| Lotus | A battle-scarred Korean fishing village | Narrow streets and burning buildings, close quarters into long lanes |
On top of those sits Kill Block, which is not a normal map at all: a Gunfight space that reconfigures every two rounds into a new combination of three interconnected Slabs, with a randomised shared loadout each round. It deletes the habit of memorising power positions, which is why it deserves its own page: the Kill Block guide.
Shipment is coming back
Confirmed by Call of Duty on September 29, with a clip and one line: Shipment returns in Modern Warfare 4. No date for it, no playlist detail, and no word on whether the layout changed.
For anyone who has never grinded on it: Shipment is the container yard from Call of Duty 4, roughly the size of a parking lot, and it has been the fastest map in the series for weapon XP and camo challenges ever since. Expect launch-week camo grinding to collapse into that one playlist. More on the announcement: the MW4 PC trailer rundown.
The modes
Played in the beta:
- Team Deathmatch, Domination, Hardpoint, Kill Confirmed, Search and Destroy. The core five, unchanged in purpose.
- Inflation, new to MW4: every elimination builds your fortune and makes you a bigger target.
- Gunfight, returning on Kill Block in classic 3v3 and in a new 10v10 variant.
- Ground War: Combat Outpost, the large-scale fight with vehicles and infantry.
Announced since, and not in the beta:
- Collateral, built for the Search and Destroy crowd. Two bomb sites, teams alternate between attack and defence, everyone starts with a pistol and earns in-match cash to spend on upgrades between rounds. No respawns, no Killstreaks, no health regeneration, no custom loadouts, and money carries between rounds while your loadout does not. Infinity Ward says more detail follows closer to launch.
Warzone and DMZ are separate map sets
Warzone joined the MW4 beta with Resurgence on a new map called Zodiac, the first time Warzone has been playable in an open beta. Our breakdown: MW4 Warzone beta and Zodiac.
DMZ returns as a full mode with its own setting, a tri-border exclusion zone with most of it on the South Korean side, including the Fallout reactor, a prison complex, what is left of Hajin City and a military base. That is a different kind of map entirely: MW4 DMZ explained.
What is not confirmed
- The full launch map list. Activision has not published it. Counts circulating on other sites are not from an official source.
- Where Shipment lands. Confirmed as returning, nothing else.
- Ranked Play maps and the mode's ruleset. Ranked has no date at all, see how to rank up fast in MW4.
We update this page as Activision names the rest.
